Essential Responsibilities
Production Leadership
Lead daily production activities to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and delivery objectives.
Assign employees to production lines based on staffing and production priorities.
Ensure production schedules are executed efficiently and communicate any issues that may impact delivery.
Monitor line performance and address production concerns in a timely manner.
Assist with production planning during shift changes, startups, and changeovers.
Maintain accountability for production performance throughout the shift.
Team Leadership
Provide daily direction, coaching, and support to Crew Leads and production associates.
Promote a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
Address employee concerns and escalate issues to the Production Manager when appropriate.
Hold employees accountable for attendance, productivity, quality, and adherence to company policies.
Assist with employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as needed.
Safety Leadership
Enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
Conduct routine safety observations and identify unsafe conditions or behaviors.
Ensure all employees are using proper PPE and following safe work practices.
Report and investigate workplace incidents and near misses.
Promote a culture where safety is the first priority.
6S / Workplace Organization
Drive daily 6S activities throughout the production floor.
Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and production-ready.
Conduct regular 6S inspections and assign corrective actions.
Encourage employee ownership of workplace organization and cleanliness.
Identify opportunities to improve workflow and eliminate waste.
Quality Management
Ensure all products meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
Verify quality checks are completed and documented.
Respond quickly to quality concerns and coordinate corrective actions with the Quality Department.
Minimize scrap, rework, and production errors.
Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are consistently followed.
Training & Employee Development
Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.
Verify employees are trained and competent on assigned equipment and processes.
Support cross-training efforts to improve workforce flexibility.
Coach employees on proper procedures and best practices.
Help identify future Crew Leads and leaders within the department.
Communication
Maintain open communication with the Production Manager regarding production performance, staffing, quality issues, equipment concerns, and employee matters.
Communicate daily production expectations to Crew Leads and production associates.
Participate in shift handoff meetings to ensure continuity between shifts.
Work closely with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, Scheduling, and other departments to resolve production issues.
Continuous Improvement
Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
Encourage employees to submit improvement ideas and suggestions.
Operational Support
Monitor labor utilization and staffing throughout the shift.
Assist in coordinating changeovers to minimize downtime.
Ensure equipment and workstations are prepared for production.
Escalate equipment issues promptly to Maintenance.
Maintain accurate production records and shift documentation.
